Please Read! Important!

ACTS is in the process of moving. This means that class times and locations may be subject to change. We will do everything we can to make this transition as smooth as possible for our students and families. Because of this move, it is absolutely pertinent that you register your student for the class they want to take on our website (www.coloradoacts.org). If your student is not registered we will not be able to contact you with information regarding meeting location and time. Thanks for your understanding and flexibility during this time of transition. We greatly appreciate it.

After-School & Evening Classes:

A Pirate’s Life for Me: A Musical

  • Ages: 12-18

Description:  Aristocrat Roger Goodman has his heart set on a conventional life married to the wealthy Sarah Huffington and living happily ever after.  That is, until he finds out she thinks he’s boring and would rather marry a brave and adventurous pirate!  Determined to prove himself to his beloved, Roger hires Long John Sliver to tutor him and his newly recruited motley crew in the field of piracy.  In exchange for his total pirate makeover, Roger and his crew sail to Treasure Island seeking the chests of gold doubloons Long John buried there. Meanwhile, Sarah knows there’s only one way to win the affections of a true pirate.  She dubs herself the Pirate Queen and sets sail with her own crew of lady pirates.  With messages in bottles that spread rumors, Captain Blood and the Pirate Queen learn of each other’s formidable reputations, not knowing, of course, each other’s true identity.  When Sarah gets the message that Captain Blood is holding her parents captive on Treasure Island, you can guess where the lady pirates are headed next!  Treasure Island is soon swimming with retired pirates, lady pirates and other pirate wannabes, including one character who thinks he’s a parrot.  It’s not a pirate convention; it’s a game of hide-and-seek!

Jack and the Beanstalk

Bully Goats Griff

A Touring Performance

  • Ages: 8-18

Description: With a tweak and a twist, the children’s tale of the Billy Goats Gruff has become the perfect tool to teach elementary audiences about bullying. The two toll trolls who are bickering on a bridge have a “falling out” after Billy, the smallest of the three goats, decides to become a “bully goat.”  As if paying a toll to get across the bridge wasn’t bad enough, now anyone who dares to trip-trap over the bridge gets knocked off by Billy.  At first it seems funny, but the unfairness of Billy’s bullying becomes apparent when victims keep getting pushed off the bridge.  In the end, a gang of mis-matched victims pull together to teach Billy a lesson.  Children of all ages will love the silly characters and non-stop action in this show. Beyond the silliness, an important lesson is learned.
School Performances: This is a “travelling” show that will visit several different schools with their production. Students and Parents will be advised of specific dates when they become available in January. Tentatively, Performances will be held the Last Week of April- The Second Week in May.

I Never Saw Another Butterfly

Audition Only

  • Ages: All Ages

Description: Over 15,000 Jewish children passed through Terezin, and only about a hundred were still alive when Terezin was liberated at the end of the war. One of the survivors, Raja, having lived through it all, teaching the children when there was nothing to teach with, helping to give them hope when there was little enough reason for hope, creating a little world of laughter, of flowers and butterflies behind the barbed wire, tells the true story of the children. It’s her play and it’s theirs. There were no butterflies at Terezin, of course, but for the children, butterflies became a symbol of defiance, making it possible for them to live on and play happily while waiting to be transported.
